What Is The Best Time To Post On Instagram?

We all know Instagram is super competitive, highly-populated platform and in order to succeed in this environment – you have to use EVERY single thing to your advantage. And we also know that there are TONS of those “single” things that can be used. Well, one of those things is:

Posting on specific time.

You probably had these weird moments where some of your posts just DOUBLE in engagement. I know I did. And let me tell you, it happens for a reason. You probably hit the perfect time frame to do that. So, let’s figure out how to do that EVERY single time!

One thing to note – best time to post will depend on a few things.

The Usual Best Time To Post

Okay, let’s first talk about what will apply to most people. Many of you may think that the best time to post would be Sunday – however, this is wrong. Although you may think everyone is just home, chilling and enjoying their free time on social media, but in reality, most people are off on the road or doing something entirely different. As you can see here, Sunday is the worst day when it comes to engagements. And surprisingly, the best days are in middle of the week. Wednesday/Thursday/Friday work the best for many reasons. Compared to Monday/Tuesday, they are not as intense when it comes to work, so people have more time to spend browsing Instagram. And compared to weekends, people are using their phones more often since they’re most likely not off to some great adventure.

Now when it comes to TIME, as in when during the 24 hours – you can also see some interesting patterns there. The highest engagement usually happens really early in the morning, from 5 AM to 6 AM and in middle of the day – 4 PM to 5 PM. 

Early mornings work well because most of people check Instagram upon waking up and middle of the day is usually the time just after coming home from work.

However, all this is way too general and you shouldn’t look much into it. 

So what should you do instead?

Know Your Audience

This is the most precious piece of information you can have when it comes to your boosting your Instagram engagement rate. Let’s take a look at 2 situations as an example. So, let’s say you want to post an image related to partying, having fun, festivals. You do the following:

  1. You post the image at 6 AM
  2. You post the image at 8 PM

Which one do you think will have more engagement?

– Well of course the second one!

People don’t want to read about parties and festivals at 6 AM. (Thanks Captain Obvious!) However, at 8 PM it’s a whole ‘nother story. This is why it’s very important to know your target audience, the working-class will be more effective during non work times and your “productivity page” will probably be the most effective at night, lol.

The point is, if you get inside the heads of your audience, you will know the what’s, how’s, why’s and when’s of how their life. This means you will find out when it’s the best time to post your photo / video. And this is the reason I said you shouldn’t look too much into the graph. Because it will depend based on your profile, audience and their behavior.

However, with information that you’ve learned from this reading, you should have more than enough insight to figure out when is the best time for YOU to post.
